Show Notes

The latest episode is all about hard hats and hard knocks. Kia Stanford of London-based practice, Kia Designs, joins co-presenter Susie Rumbold, Past President of the British Institute of Interior Design and Principal of Tessuto to look at how designers can successfully manage contractors. What constitutes a good contractor, how do you find one and how do you keep them on the straight and narrow to deliver great projects and good profit? We also examine the problem situations that can arise with contractors and hear from Kia and Susie on ways that they’ve dealt with real issues on site. In a wide-ranging conversation, we also find out about Kia’s pathway into the profession and how she’s able to keep her sanity, reduce stress levels and switch off from interior design in her spare time. This episode is recorded in the luxury cinema beneath the Experience Centre of Ideaworks. The Interior Design Business is a Wildwood and Alfi Media production.
